For generations, magicians have performed on close-up mats.

Of course, there’s a practical reason. A great mat gives you the perfect working surface for cards, coins and other objects. But there’s something else a close up mat does.

It defines your performance space.

It creates a stage.

And when you place something on that stage, suddenly it feels important.

For performers of mystery, however, an ordinary close up mat just doesn’t quite cut it.

So we created something different.

The 1914 Ouija Pad.

We started with the most important thing: the mat itself.

Over the years we’ve tried countless close up pads, from the inexpensive to the eye-wateringly expensive, and there is one we continually find ourselves coming back to the TCC Suede Leather Close-Up Pad.

It looks beautiful. It feels luxurious. And, most importantly, it is an exceptional surface to actually perform on.

That became our canvas.

From there, we created a bespoke 1914 Ouija Board design, custom laser engraved directly into the surface of the mat.

But we didn't want something loud.

We didn't want a novelty Ouija board screaming for attention across the table.

We wanted something subtle.

Something that looks almost hidden until you notice it.

That’s why we chose black on black. The intricate Ouija artwork reveals itself beautifully against the surface without overpowering it.

Because sometimes...

the subtlest details are the ones people remember.

The result is a close up pad that feels perfectly at home with cards and coins, but equally suited to tarot, billets, pendulums, spirit work, bizarre magic and mentalism.
